Today is Thursday, November 6, 2008. I just posted something onto the craigslist.org nonprofits forum. I have copied it, immediately below.
I have noticed that legitimate and legal nonprofit organizations and charities are legally obligated to post their registration/license/charity numbers in all ads, even on receipts when donations are made. Why are they not obligated to do this on craigslist.org? If they were, the people who wish to make donations could do so, after they checked out whether the alleged organization/charity was legitimate, if they so chose.

When nonprofit organizations and charities advertise, they are legally required to post their registration/charity/license number. Why is this not enforced on craigslist.org? If it was, then the fake charity in Skowhegan, ME would not be allowed to post multiple ads in various categories and subsequently "fleece" the good, kind, hard-working people of the state. Ad ID 902319551 is an example.

I have done as I am supposed to, by flagging the ads, submitting online complaint forms, and even going as far as to write to Clint Powell, Craig Newmark founder on his blog and at his e-mail, and through several forums on CL, including nonprofits forum. Someone suggested that I write here, in a reply to my last post. There is a fake charity in Skowhegan ME. I contacted the Town office and Dept of State. This KIM has no license to run a charity. She admits in ads that she sells soda, snacks like chips, and homemade goods. She begs for people to give her everything under the sun from farm animals/livestock, food for animals/livestock, food for humans, furniture, anything her heart desires. None of this is reported to the IRS. She sent me a threatening e-mail, which is printed on my blog at http://craigslistmainescams.blogspot.com/ in which she admits that she also helps "state officials", which is apparently why the town and state have not shut down her illegal charity. In the Spring, she was begging people to give her fertilized eggs so handicapped kids could watch them hatch. She also begged for hens. A little while later, she posed many ads in which she bragged she had too many chickens and was selling them. In the latest, she says she is a vet student, going to college, YET all of her ads are written as though she is a total illiterate, no doubt to gain confidence of the good people she is scamming and lend authenticity to the scam ads. CL staff pretended to answer my mail, when I wrote to Craig. Her e-mail address is itsmeirac@yahoo.com yet in the ad she goes by the name of Kim. Why is CL allowing this scam to continue????? In my many attempts to bring the scam artist in Skowhegan ME to the attention of the staff at Craigslist.org, I tried posting complaints in several different areas on their forums.
Following is a reply, to a post I made in the "Non-profits" forum. In it, someone states that Craig is "too busy" to answer his own mails and that a staff member does this. I had the feeling that this was true. Now, I have it in writing.

Hi again Readers:
I received a threatening e-mail, from the scammer on craigslist.org, you know the one which the founder, Craig Newmark mighty bosom buddy of Obama, and the staff at craigslist.org, allow to continue to post scam ads.
In a threatening e-mail correspondence to me, Kim, or is it "Ira C", whatever the alias she is using today, states that she is helping State Officials. I am not speculating, surmising, theorizing, or even guessing. This is what the scam artist is stating, in her own words. However, I think it may be safe to speculate, surmise, theorize, and yes even guess that this is a contributing factor, as to why this fake charity has not been shut down. I have no idea what type of license she is referring to, but it is NOT a license to run a charity.
She is also not reporting any of the "booty" from the "alleged charity" to the IRS either.
I admit that I should not have called her the "b" word in my e-mail. I was just so frustrated, because she is taking advantage of so many good, kind, hard-working people in Maine, who really believe that they are helping all these other people through her. I was dreadfully upset that craigslist.org has been refusing to deal with it. They refuse to block her ads and condone this illegal activity, by continuing to allow her to post fraudulant ads on their free site. In the forum on craigslist, where I found the link to scamalicious, I found a strikingly similar remark that had been posted about another scammer. I find that quite interesting and shall post that remark here.

That web site looks authentic but that email < Jack_Bennie > 11/01 10:25:52 is classic bogus. Did you do a view-source of the source code to verify where the link really went? Links are easily spoofed.

I received a threatening e-mail, from the scammer on craigslist.org, you know the one which the founder, Craig Newmark mighty bosom buddy of Obama, and the staff at craigslist.org, allow to continue to post scam ads.
In a threatening e-mail correspondence to me, Kim, or is it "Ira C", whatever the alias she is using today, states that she is helping State Officials. I am not speculating, surmising, theorizing, or even guessing. This is what the scam artist is stating, in her own words. However, I think it may be safe to speculate, surmise, theorize, and yes even guess that this is a contributing factor, as to why this fake charity has not been shut down. I have no idea what type of license she is referring to, but it is NOT a license to run a charity.
She is also not reporting any of the "booty" from the "alleged charity" to the IRS either.
I admit that I should not have called her the "b" word in my e-mail. I was just so frustrated, because she is taking advantage of so many good, kind, hard-working people in Maine, who really believe that they are helping all these other people through her. I was dreadfully upset that craigslist.org has been refusing to deal with it. They refuse to block her ads and condone this illegal activity, by continuing to allow her to post fraudulant ads on their free site. In the forum on craigslist, where I found the link to scamalicious, I found a strikingly similar remark that had been posted about another scammer. I find that quite interesting and shall post that remark here.

That web site looks authentic but that email < Jack_Bennie > 11/01 10:25:52 is classic bogus. Did you do a view-source of the source code to verify where the link really went? Links are easily spoofed.

Craigslist.org CONDONES THE SKOWHEGAN SCAM: Part 7
Hi again readers. Here is the PROOF I needed that Craig Newmark and the site craigslist.org is unwilling to remove ads, in which the party who places the ad is perpetrating a blatant scam on people who use their site. The proof is simply stated in Craig Newmark's own words. See for yourself. I have copied the e-mail below.
In this latest e-mail, Craig alleges that he has no contacts, and cannot find out officially, whether or not this person, is she "KIM" or "IRA C" (she apparently uses a fake name in her scam ads). All I had to do was make a couple of calls and found out THAT on my own, that there is no license for the alleged charity in Skowhegan. I have no contacts and I somehow managed to get that information!
If you look at Craig's Blog, you will see that in order to make himself feel even more important than he thinks he is, he has to flaunt his "Contacts", uh "Relationship" with Barrack Obama. Tell me Craig, with such blatant self-promotion on not only your Blog, but also on your Facebook, and Goodness only knows how many other sites, do you own a little red sports car?
Why don't you tell us just how much money it costs to have such a big name politician in your "pocket", who is willing to pose with you for your self-serving promotions? I am sure my readers would like to know..... How much in campaign contributions do you have to make to be buy that much quality time with such a high-ranking public official????? One can only surmise, that this is how it is done, isn't that true Craig?

Craigslist.org SCAM: SKOWHEGAN, ME Part 6
Hi again. As promised, here are the e-mail correspondences between myself and Craig Newmark, the founder of Craigslist.
I sent one of my letters, through his Blog, which is the one I found through scamalicious. In that post, I also provided a link to my Blog. It is actually just one paragraph, because IT WAS INDEED an actual Comment, which I posted to his Blog. As for scamalicious, well that appears to be essentially a glorified ad, directing the reader to Craig's paid site. Well, you know those DOT com folks. What can I say?
I sent the other letter to his address at Craigslist, which I found on his Facebook.com site.

If you read his reply carefully, he states that it is difficult to understand, since it is a "long run-on paragraph" and all. Now, the original did NOT have all these annoying symbols, like "<<<". It was just a comment post to a Blog.
First, a little background. For one thing, if you use or have visited craigslist.org, when you post a complaint or question to the staff, it DOES NOT appear online. If you post to the forum, it MAY be posted online. The staff chooses which comments are posted.
In the letter, I am essentially adivising him that I followed the site instructions. I attempted to be succinct! First, I flagged the offending ads. Then I wrote to the staff, using the online complaint form, which I reiterate is not posted online. Then I started writing e-mail complaints to the staff, via abuse@craigslist.org and later another address I found on the site, elves@craigslist.org.
When none of this worked and the staff refused to remove the Scammer's ads, I tried to post a warning, on their forum, to site users. The staff "shut me down" immediately, pouncing like pumas, stating that "Complaints are not allowed". End of story.
In his reply to the blog post, Craig states that I may be posting ads that are perceived as defamatory. Number one, I am not posting ads. Posting an ad, even a warning against an obvious scammer, is not allowed according to the site's TOS (Terms of Service). Number two, ALLEGEDLY, complaints about scammers are allowed. I strongly emphasize ALLEGEDLY. Obviously this is not true! They won't allow them, and if any do slip through, they refuse to act on them. Hey Craig, just WHAT are you paying your staff for? It appears to me that they do very little, if any, work. Hey, may I have a job, ha ha? That would not work for me though. I am an efficient worker and would not fit in well with the rest of the staff!

Craigslist.org SCAM: SKOWHEGAN, ME, Part 5
PLEASE KEEP WATCHING. I AM SURE THAT WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK OR TWO (POSSIBLY EVEN LATER TODAY) THERE WILL BE MANY, MANY MORE SCAM ADS FROM KIM, FOR YOU TO SEE.
You see, she is just too greedy. She knows how to use the system. She knows that she can not only get all of this stuff, these animals, these pieces of furniture, the food and animal feed, and anything else she wants for FREE by SCAMMING the good people of Maine. She also knows that she can place these ads for FREE. She is expert at playing on the sympathies of good people, who really think they are helping those who need the help most.
Stay tuned. I shall keep you posted and you too can watch her ads evolve, as she begs for even more and more, and pretends to help even more and more people.
Please keep reading. There will be even more fascinating reading from KIM in the future. I reieterate from above, Kim is just TOO greedy and Craigslist is far too accommodating for this type of person.

Today is Sunday, November 2. Well, she is back again! Are you REALLY surprised? Right. Here is another ad, which was posted by the infamous Scammer on Craiglist.org, Kim in Skowhegan, last evening. She does not know when to stop scamming people and Craigslist staff is only too happy to help her. Please note that she is still begging for anything and everything under the sun, alleging that she is helping people who are down on their luck, when the only person she is helping, is as usual, herself!!!!!
Before I post the ad though, there is one more thing. I received a reply from Craig Newmark, the founder of Craigslist. I found his somewhat self-serving Blog, through their offsite scam report site, scamalicious. Now, that's a joke, for another day. Oh my. Why spend so much on things even at the organizations which still cost high and kids out grow clothes so much when you can come here and trade or get free i got new and used. I also took in a family and it make me happy to see i can do a little more on helping. So I want to help I'm doing yardsale thing free area-donation area and a selling area for i can help ones here and critters i help out. I want to have this place where people can keep their pets and not go shelter due to lack of food i've help 4 families on this so far. and more i feel coming. so now i'm get vetting degree i'm going to have a place for people get their pets shots not rabies but other ones and cost-a donation is all.
